ASS OVER TEA KETTLE - union jack

We are well known for our rain here on the west coast. It usually
rains for a long time but it's relatively light compared to other
places. Last night was a different story. All of a sudden it poured
like a mid summer Florida storm. I in the mean time was worried
about some items outside so I went to the top of the deck stairs and
started down. Well I made it to the bottom however I was no
longer on my feet. Yes I took a fall the moment my shoe stepped
on the wet stair. My hip landed on the ground, but my rib and wrist
 hit the concrete.
"GEORGE!!!!"
Well he came and got me back in the house and I was banished to
the bed for the rest of the night with ice.
My hip is bruised, thank god for that extra padding I have,
my rib feels fine but my wrist is sore.
So today I had to come up with light duty work.

I also couldn't do my other job because my PC has gone to the repair shop to be scolded and straightened out, so here I sit getting to know George's computer.

I decided to sit still, let my wrist heal and be a creative painter.

It's a beautiful serpentine dresser call *JACK*.
He's not done but I am for the night.

I also manage to finish a pair of wooden pillar candle holders made in India.
I got them at a yard sale recently to paint and distressed. The
plan is to take them to the community show next week but you'll
have to wait and see if I can give them up.

Here are the close ups of the accents I promised the other day
on the lingerie chest I finished. Let me know what you think.

GEORGE TOLD ME I WAS HOT LAST NIGHT - slipper chair n ottoman

I started writing this post several days ago
just as something was hitting me and hitting me hard,
which I'll explain at the end.

I completed this slipper chair with the help of
my sister awhile back, that post can be seen here.

The purchasers of this chair also requested a matching ottoman.
Taya and Matt are a lovely young couple and repeat customers.
I had the matching fabric and a couple of useful pieces waiting for redo.
The question would be ... would one of them work?

Attempt one, was too small,

Attempt two, was too tall,

Attempt three, was just right.

If you look closely you might realize this ottoman was made from
the only salvageable part of another arm chair, with great legs.

I've been MIA for the last few days due to a case of severe strep
throat. If you have ever been afflicted with this condition I now
understand and sympathize. I couldn't talk, eat, swallow, and the
worst part for me was not thinking straight due to a high fever for
36hrs straight. After a midnight visit to the hospital and high doses
of medication, the doc says it will take a few more days till I
started to feel normal again and I'm still having trouble eating and
drinking but I'm definitely back, with a funny sounding voice.

JEWELRY FOR YOUR FURNITURE- hardware

These are some great examples of the statement
the right hardware can make.

Look at the selection of hardware I found at the Hobby Lobby.
If I stamp my feet long enough do you think we could get one here in BC?

Here are just 2 drawers of furniture knobs
and handles I've hoarded over time.

This photo was taken at a Flea market in Florida.
All this lady sold was vintage hardware ..... bestill my heart.

The rustic appeal these large handles added to
this red dresser couldn't be imagined any other way.

This yellow dresser wouldn't be so happy with out
the brilliant punch the french white hardware adds.

The correct vintage feel was found when these
pulls were added to this aqua wash stand.

A reminder of heavy brass fittings on grand ocean liners
of the past made the travel theme of this dresser complete.

What are they called?
Bail Pull
Bin Pull
Bow Handle
Drop Pull
Oval Plate Pull
Ring Pull

A great place to find reproduction hardware here in BC is
You can shop on line or in store.
